Terence Samuel

CEO and Executive Director

Terence Samuel is the inaugural CEO and Executive Director of Connect x Protect. Terry came to Connect x Protect after a long career as an author, journalist and newsroom leader who served as editor in chief of USA TODAY and executive editor of NPR. He also held top editorial roles at The Washington Post, National Journal and TheRoot.com. He is the author of The Upper House: A Journey Behind the Closed Doors of the U.S. Senate (Palgrave MacMillan 2010.) Over many decades Terry built a reputation for journalistic integrity, storytelling prowess and a deep strategic sensibility. Early in his career he worked at several local newspapers including The Roanoke Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer and The St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Terry has been a close observer and leading expert on the rapidly changing media landscape at both the both national and local levels. His daughter was 10 when Snapchat launched in 2011.
